4- A night light to guide you or someone on your list through the night.  This group of night lights that are waiting to be packaged are made from Paste Papers, the papers are hand made in Upstate New York by this amazing artist named Claire Maziarczyk.  I fell in love with her papers years ago, they make beautiful night lights and lampshades.

Hope this list helps you with yours.  Have a fabulous time checking it twice.

An army of night lights.

army of night lights

As the elves at Shandell’s (me) have been getting ready for the Holiday Season, night lights are always top of the list.  Recently I have found some amazing new papers, just calling to be made into a night light. I could not resist this picture of them waiting to be bagged and ready for giving.

They look like an army, all in line waiting for there new homes.

Something everyone needs a night light, young and old.  Making them into a piece of wall art is part of the fun. Inspiration comes from my vast collection of vintage imagery and hand made papers.  Making a decision as to which paper or image to use next, is my biggest problem.

There is a night light for everyone on your Holiday list, the horse lover, nature enthusiast, graphic artist, addicts of vintage anything, feathers, hand made paper and lots more. Enjoy finding your perfect light for the middle of the night.

Bring the Ocean Indoors

shells

I do not get to the ocean much any more, July 4th weekend was always an ocean trip when I was a kid.  My Mom loves the beach, there is something about the healing qualities of the ocean.

The way walking along the beach and listening to the waves seems to lower ones heart rate.  When I do get a chance to go, one of my favorite things to do is collect shells. There are so many different types, in the 19th century they were documented in amazing detail.

I have put together a group of seashell inspired hand made  items for the home, a lamp, tissue box, night light and a box of matches so no matter where you live, the ocean can be with you.  If you have a friend in need of a ocean fix, one of these will surely make them smile.

Have a safe and happy 4th.

I have this fascination for letters, especially the letter “S”. Being that my name is Susan and my business is Shandell’s , I collect them in every form, from vintage letter press pieces, old sign letters, new letters made by artists, 19th century alphabets and fonts. Just about anything that is in the shape of the letter “S”.
Well I figured that I am not the only one with this fascination. After many years of collecting all kinds of alphabets I am putting them to good use. I first put them on night lights and now they are on tissue boxes. The next will be matches and then lampshades, they are both coming soon. Trying to find that gift for someone who has just about everything, try a night light or a tissue box cover with there letter on it and wait for them to smile.

Peace,

Susan
